Glasses for George and the Field Musuem

We need to start off with the big new.  George was in need of glasses and they finally came in on Friday.  They need to be adjusted already but he looks great.  And he can see!

We learned that Illinois residents get free admission to the Field Museum this month.  So we head to Chicago early this morning and spent the day exploring.  We still had to wait in line.

And then we met Sue.

Stuffed animals are fun for everyone, except me.

Becca and Pat gave Sue a hug.  George refused and then told me he was gonna kill her.

In the discovery section where they can touch whatever they want.  We'll start in the Pueblo.

Fossil dig and dinosaur nest.

George and I went to check out the forest.

Finally, we go to the dinosaurs!  The kids were very excited.
When Lia saw the stegosaurus she said "Wow!"  Becca like it too.
Becca fits inside a footprint.
Yeah Triceratops.

We learned lots of cool stuff today but my favorite was the Irish deer.  Look at those antlers!

It was a lot of time in the car but totally worth it.  Everyone had a blast and we had a great talk about the Earth and how it's changed.  We've already made plans to return when its free again.

When is it Spring?

Mike will do just about anything for Cub Scouts.  Each boy who met their popcorn selling goal had a chance to hit him in the face with a pie.  Three names were drawn and they loved it.  Thank you to the wonderful women who were there and provided these pictures.

Last week, Lia woke up from her nap and joined me in the guest bedroom as I was sewing something.  I looked over to see this.

Here's is a present from G&G Sullivan.  Very fitting and George loves it.

Patrick was invited to a birthday party at the roller rink.  He started off a little rocky but was doing great after a couple of rounds.

We are all healthy right now.  The three day weekend took its toll on us; lots of fighting!  We are all ready for the ice to thaw and spring to come at last.  Pray it comes soon.

Crazy/Long Week

It's been a crazy week around here.  Lia has decided that sleeping is not for her, at least not in her own bed; George had a birthday and an ear infection;  Patrick served at 7 AM Mass all week; and Becca had a play at school.  Let's start with a goofy picture.

Thursday was pajama day at preschool and George was loved wearing is Lego Star Wars pjs.

As I mentioned, Becca played the role of "Goose" in her 1st grade classes production of "Where Are My Animal Friends?"

The class put the play on three times so that everyone got a part.  This is Becca's group.

 All ready to go on.

For some reason, Becca choose to have an English accent for her part of "Goose".  I guess we've watch Harry Potter too many times.

George's 5th Birthday

This week my sweet George turned 5.   He agreed to skip the cake this year and was excited about birthday donuts complete with candles.

He had to wait until after dinner to open presents.  He got a couple of shirts from G&G Sullivan.

A Transformer from Mom and Dad...

...and Legos from his brother and sisters.

He had a great day and we feel very blessed to have him.

Snow!

We woke up to a few inches of snow this morning and decided to have some fun this afternoon in it.  Lia wasn't so sure of snow until she picked it up.  The she loved it.

One advantage of living next to a construction site is the big pile of dirt/mud to sled down.

It is the perfect snow for making a snowman.  We made a snow ogre, or a snogre.  Meet Lumpy!

Becca really likes Lumpy.
