October...So Far.

The first week of October, we found on day when it wasn't raining so the kids hopped on their bikes and had a few laugh.s

Let's race!

Last week, Patrick didn't feel so great but it just sounded like a cold.  By lunch time he'd spiked a slight temperature and just felt like crap.  I picked him up, we all went to George's speech lessons and then we headed to PromptCare.  After an hour of waiting and ten seconds of  listening to his lungs, the doctor ordered a breathing treatment and a chest x-ray.  In the end it was (just?) an RVS (like that 68 one that's killing kids!) and an ear infection.

He loved me taking pictures by the way!

Going for the chest x-ray.  He came back with out the gown on because he was tripping on it so much.
I found George like this one afternoon.

Pat was feeling better by Thursday but it had rained all week.  So his last soccer game of the season was in the mud.  I don't know how I managed the heavenly glow.

Lia enjoyed the mud too...

...and the camera.

Friday I had to pull out the camera to show the world how sweet my kids can be on the way to school.

Pat's class lead Mass Friday and he brought up the gifts.

As the bell rang for the big kids, George tripped and greeted the sidewalk with his face.  He was a little upset by it.  Okay, he spend Mass with me instead of with his class and won't look up until after Communion.  But he rejoined his class after Mass a carried on for the rest of the day.  He did freak out a little when he looked in the mirror later.

We are dog sitting this weekend but she couldn't be more laid back.  I also ran my first 5K yesterday and finished in under 30 minutes.   All in all, October has been kinda busy, but soccer is almost over (one more make up game) and that should free up some time.

Odds and Ends

I have a lot of random pictures to share.  These first few were taken one night when we couldn't get Lia to go to sleep.

Last week, Patrick and Becca sat in a chair together sharing their books with each other.

A few week ago, Patrick went to a birthday party for a classmate.  I got a few funny pictures.

Here a couple from the Homecoming parade last week.  I was with the Daisy Scouts, Mike was with the Cub Scouts.

The highlight of the parade for me was a when group of 8th grade girls shout out "George!  George!"  One of them is his prayer partner at school and they were both very excited to see each other.

Notre Dame Weekend

We went to Notre Dame this weekend to celebrate Mike's 33rd birthday and partake in Alumni Band weekend.  Friday afternoon we watched the current band march by on the way to practice.

Here come the Irish Guard.

Trombones!

Saturday was cold and rainy but we were on campus at 8 to watch Mike and many friends practice and step-off.  Mike is on the far end of this picture.
After they left, the kids and I headed over to visit my Aunt Joan.  The kids eat a lot of fruit and amused her with their tales.  I was happy to be warm.

Here's George showing his cousin Lucas how to use the card shuffler.

Lia up close and personal.

Dinner.

Lovely and so lady-like.

We stayed at a cabin at Potato Creek State Park south on the city.  Saturday night George noticed these pictures in the bathroom.  He came out laughing and said "Mom, there are pictures of a kangaroo making a snowman!"  When I stopped laughing I explained that is was a deer, not a kangaroo.

Patrick asked to go the Basilica of Scared Heart so we braved the crowd.  We were running late and ended up standing in the entryway.  We quickly gave the kids a tour after Mass and they loved it.  George told Mike the Basilica was awesome and like a castle.  Despite my nose being stuffed up, we had a great weekend.
